All farm tours will take place on Saturday, August 16, 2008.

Aldrich Tree Farm is located on a modern 1000-acre corn and soybean farm, selling 1,000 Christmas Trees and 800 wreaths each year. The farm features many labor-saving gadgets, a juried arts and crafts show in the antique barn, tree flocking and fainting goats. There will also be a display of modern farm equipment.

Tour #3 will visit a neighboring Antique Power Show with puffing steam engines, horse-drawn farm equipment and thrashing machines, with bundles of oats available to throw in the machine.

The tour will continue with a drive by one of Iowa’s wind farms and conclude with a visit to Clear Lake, Iowa, to tour the Surf Ballroom. The Surf is famous as the place of the last performance before their deaths of Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Richie Valens – the day “the music died.”
