- Come join us for a visit to four of Iowa’s beautiful landmarks. First, we will visit the Salisbury House, a 42-room mansion built in the 1920’s and modeled after the King’s House in Salisbury, England. It is filled with an eclectic collection of original art, rare books, tapestries and antique furnishings from around the world. Our next stop is the Iowa State Capitol, a Renaissance Revival Style building featuring a 23-karat gold dome, 22 imported marbles and exceptional wood carvings. We will stop for lunch at the Botanical Center where you can stretch your legs and enjoy a rare tropical paradise. Terrace Hill, the Iowa Governor’s Residence is next on our tour. It is among the best examples of American Victorian Second Empire architecture. The 18,000-square-foot structure was completed in 1869. Before we head back to the hotel, we will make a short stop at Suzette’s Candies, where we will tour the kitchens and enjoy chocolate at its finest.
