Take Action
Having received the approval of the Senate Judiciary Committee, S.744, the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act is now being debated by the full Senate.

S.744 would dramatically overhaul America's legal immigration system, address border security and employment eligibility verification, and provide a tough but fair process for an estimated 11 million unauthorized immigrants to earn legal status over 10 or more years.

From a Christmas Tree and nursery perspective, the most notable provision is the agricultural reform package, which includes an agriculture-specific earned legalization program, and a new, market-based and flexible future ag worker visa program that will eventually replace the widely criticized H-2A program.

Please urge your two U.S. Senators to support this vital legislation; you may also use ANLA's Take Action page to compose a customized message.
Christmas Tree Planting & Maintenance
The work of a Christmas Tree farmer is never done. There is a lot of year-round work that goes into creating the big, beautiful tree that the customer eventually gets to take home. Nigel Manley of The Rocks Estate in New Hampshire explains why picking cones off Christmas Trees in the spring helps them grow and stay healthier. In the video below, Nigel and his crew explain the process of planting Christmas trees with a tractor and tree planter. Tractors and other equipment help make the process easier but there is still a lot of manual work that is required.
